East Liverpool, Ohio: My Town

The struggling community of East Liverpool, Ohio, is finding hope for the future in the talents of its sons and daughters. Some successful East Liverpool High School alumni, once scattered throughout the country, have come home to chart a path for the Rust Belt city’s future.

PBS Western Reserve presents a new half-hour documentary that showcases a grassroots effort to overcome problems that are all too common in cities ravaged by decades of decline in manufacturing. A year in the making, the production follows the efforts of East Liverpool Community Partnership in Revitalization, formed by the alumni. With talents ranging from professional jazz singing to marketing and architecture, ELCPR brings an innovative spirit as it searches the country for solutions. Its efforts are part of a growing national movement to save struggling small towns.

EAST LIVERPOOL, OHIO: MY TOWN shares the lessons from this city, with the hope of inspiring and educating other communities facing adversity. The production is narrated by television legend Regis Philbin and includes music provided by singer-songwriter Michael Stanley, a native of Northeast Ohio.
