Lots of New Programming Coming Your Way!

A new year will soon be here and that means lots of new programs from PBS Western Reserve. Here’s a peek at what we have in store for 2023.

MASTERPIECE Winter/Spring 2023 Preview

It’s no secret that some of our most popular programs are MASTERPIECE dramas. Get ready for hours of excellent storytelling next year. January sees new seasons of both ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL and MISS SCARLETT AND THE DUKE. In March it’s the 13th season of CALL THE MIDWIFE. Also in March, we begin a three-season look at Marie Antionette. Later in the year, the classic novel “Tom Jones” comes to life in an all-new adaptation.

Monopoly

Do not pass Go; do not collect $200. Get out of jail free. Boardwalk and Park Place. All of these helped make Monopoly one of America’s favorite board games. In a new AMERICAN EXPERIENCE special, you’ll also see it as a tale of greed, obsession and corporate duplicity. There’s so much more to Monopoly than a car, thimble and battleship. TAKE A CHANCE will premiere in March.

Season 9 Official Preview

Also next year, Henry Louis Gates, Jr., climbs the family trees of Julia Roberts, Jeff Daniels, Carol Burnett, Cyndi Lauper and others in a new season of FINDING YOUR ROOTS.

Roberta Flack

Science fans will see the latest discoveries from the James Webb Telescope in a new episode of NOVA. AMERICAN MASTERS profiles singer Roberta Flack, and GREAT PERFORMANCES looks back at the series’ 50 fabulous years.

All in all, 2023 is going to be a great year of great television on PBS Western Reserve. May we ask that one of your New Year’s resolutions be to join or renew your membership? Contributions from people across Northeast Ohio make possible the exciting new programs we present year after year. Thanks so much.

Steve creates the PBS Western Reserve television schedules. Long before finding great programs for you to watch he was a radio DJ. He and his wife are avid travelers, preferring unusual vacation spots such as Cuba and Budapest and sailing across the Atlantic (on an ocean liner, not a sailboat). Tops on his list of famous people he’s met is Fred Rogers. A close second is Mick Jagger or maybe Elton John. His favorite PBS show is “Sherlock Holmes” with Jeremy Brett. Or with Benedict Cumberbatch. It’s a toss-up, he says. Either way, he loves looking for new and interesting programs to share with you.
