Only 3% of those who served during World War II were still alive in 2019. Once those veterans are gone, what will happen to the story of their sacrifice? The work of Joshua and Heather Scott and Christian McLean, all of whom are based in Northeast Ohio, this documentary is dedicated to preserving the history and memories of those who served in the war.
Through personal accounts of World War II veterans, the program honors their sacrifice and offers younger generations an understanding of what it was like to live through the war and what lessons can be learned from it.

In the 1990s, the B-26 Marauder Historical Society taped oral histories detailing the WWII experiences of B-26 Marauder pilots, known as “Marauder Men.” This three-part docuseries is an intimate look at that footage. These interviews capture a history of the oft-forgotten bomber that was almost lost. Over decades, the MAPS Museum in Canton has restored one of only six B-26s left in existence.

Viola Hippert grew up as a child of Serbian immigrants in the shadow of the Bethlehem Steel plant in Lackawanna, New York. Her family’s strong work ethic laid the groundwork for “Vi” to become a Rosie the Riveter at Bell Aircraft Corporation during WWII. Now in her late 90s, Vi reflects on her life and has no plan to slow down.

Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, affects hundreds of thousands of veterans. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event. This 30-minute documentary, produced by Canton resident Ron Ponder, talks about some of the research and treatments of veterans and the general public of today.

Sgt. Vernon Hamilton was a 19-year-old Army Air Corps engineer-gunner from Monongahela, Pennsylvania, whose plane was shot down over Germany during World War II. HOMECOMING: SGT. HAMILTON'S LONG JOURNEY follows the modern-day excavation team who recovered his 1943 Monongahela High School class ring in Reken, Germany in 2016, as well as the DNA scientists in Nebraska who were able to identify the Sergeant's remains. The documentary provides a unique window into the U.S. military's ongoing efforts to match recovered remains to missing service members.
