This eight-part series stars Olivia Colman—who won a BAFTA for her role here as DS Ellie Miller—and award-winning actor David Tennant as DI Alex Hardy. BROADCHURCH takes place in a seemingly friendly seaside town that becomes wrapped in secrets when the death of an 11-year-old boy sparks a media frenzy and the town’s locals start to open up about what they do and don’t know.

Alex Hardy is gruff and weighed down by a recent failed murder case and a heart condition he is keeping a secret. He is new to Broadchurch, while his partner, Ellie Miller, is rooted there with her family. She’s amiable and calls Hardy out when he’s being difficult.
