Shaker Lemon Pie
Otherwise known as Ohio lemon pie, this recipe comes with a waste-nothing philosophy as you bake the lemons — peel and all. The dessert gets its name from the Ohio Shaker community. Shakers were a Christian denomination most prominent during the 19th century whose motto “hands to work, hearts to God” applied to everything, especially the kitchen. Somewhere between marmalade and lemon curd, this recipe may be out of the ordinary, but it was made with a taste of heaven in mind.
